The Salem Wildcats return to baseball action today when they host St Anthony to SCHS Field.
Salem is coming off splitting a home double header with Benton on Saturday. Salem won the opening game 12-5. Salem trailed 3-0 until the 4th when they scored 3, then added 5 in the fifth and 4 more in the sixth. Griffin Day went 2-2 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored, Charlie Hunter and Brogan Gregg drove in 2 each with RBI also from Isaak Williams. Drew Davis worked 5 innings in the win with Nick Gregg and Carter Rose each getting an inning of relief.
Salem then dropped their second game 12-0 in five innings. The Cats could only muster 3 hits as Benton scored 6 runs through the first 2 innings. Blane Phillips had 2 of Salem’s hits with Josh Powless getting the other.
The SC Cougars travel to Altamont for a double header. SC split a pair of games in Breese over the weekend winning their first game over Vandalia 13-3 in five-innings. Beau Jolliff and Aidan Dodson homered in the win. Dodson and Andrew Magnus drove in 2 runs each with RBI also from Chase Thompson, Ethan Dunn and Spencer Johannes. SC fell to Mater Dei 15-5 in five-innings. Jolliff homered again and drove in 2 runs with Magnus and Dunn adding RBI.
The North Clay Cardinals will travel to Okaw Valley today after improving to 5-1 on the season with a pair of wins Saturday. North Clay beat Odin/Patoka/Sandoval 15-5 in five innings and knocked off Carrollton 21-3 in four.
