Saint Louis University senior pitcher Chloe Wendling is the Atlantic 10 Conference softball co-Pitcher of the Week for March 15-20, the league office announced Monday. It is the first A-10 weekly honor of Wendling’s career.
Wendling posted a 3-0 record and did not allow a run in three starts last week, defeating South Dakota once and Western Illinois twice. She allowed just 12 hits – only one of which was for extra bases – and three walks while striking out 15 in 16 innings. Her eight strikeouts vs. South Dakota were a career high.
Wendling has won her last five starts. During that stretch (32 innings), she has a 0.88 ERA, three shutouts, a .203 opponents’ batting average, a 0.97 WHIP (24 hits – only three for extra bases, seven walks) and 23 strikeouts.
The right-hander leads the A-10 and is tied for 16th nationally in shutouts (four). She ranks second in the conference in complete games (10), innings (79) and starts (12), tied for second in wins (seven), and third in ERA (2.84) and strikeouts (50). Wendling has issued just 1.95 walks per seven innings.
