The Salem Lady Cats improved to 2-1 with their come from behind home opening win over Teutopolis at Tully Park 10-9. Salem trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth. Lilly Blagoue got her first varsity win as the freshman struck out 5 and she also hit her first varsity home run, a 3-run shot to give Salem the lead in the 6th. Makenna Smith added 4 RBI including a bases clearing double in the 4th. Maya Susmena had 2 hits and scored 3 runs. Breanna Thurman and Avery Bass scored 2 runs each.
The Salem JV lost 5-2. Thurman, Lauren Burge and Shayla Prosise each continued to get better in the circle. Nat Lee had a triple, scored a run and drove in another.
Today, the South Central Lady Cougars are scheduled to play host to Webber Township. They opened their season yesterday with a win at Mulberry Grove 12-3. Taegan Webster singled twice and drove in a run, Brooklyn Garrett doubled, homered and drove in 3, Laney Webster also homered, Lily Malone drove in 3 and Ella Watwood added 2 RBI. Kaitlyn Swift doubled home a run.
Christ Our Rock beat Clay City 9-2.
