Kids move onto the playground equipment after the new inclusive playground opens Friday afternoon.

A 12-year-old Salem girl had to be cut down in the baby swing at the new Inclusive Playground in Bryan Memorial Park after getting stuck inside. Salem Fire Marshal Bill Fulton says the girl could not be freed from the basket that completely encircles the baby inside the swing, so firemen had to cut the chains and lower her to the ground. At that point, United Medical Response personnel were able to slip her out of the swing.

The 12-year-old declined medical treatment.

Fulton says the swing itself was not damaged, with only the chains having to be replaced.

Firemen were called to the park around 6:30 Thursday night.
