There will be three Republican primary election battles in Marion County.

Kevin Cripps and Ryan Castleman will face off for sheriff.   Republican County Clerk Steven Fox and Treasurer Gary Purcell are running unopposed.   No Democrat has filed for countywide office.

Four Republicans are seeking the three open county board seas in District One.  They are incumbent Sharon Woodward along with Brock Waggoner, Tracy Murray, and Michael Gray.   The three winners will be challenged by Democrat Jon Meador in the November General Election.

Four Republicans are seeking the three open seats in District Two.   Jackie Riley is running along with all three incumbents Dr. Creighton Engel, Wesley Gozia, and Deborah Reed.

In District Three Republican incumbents Bill Henson and Steven Whritenhour are running along with Republican newcomer Tyson McHenry.   They will be challenged in the November election by Democrat Carrie Perkins-Schnicker.

Only the three Republican incumbents are running in District four.   They are Christopher Krupp, Steven Bradley, and Judith Meeks-Hakim.

In District Five, all three Republican incumbents are seeking re-election.  They are Debbie Smith, Adam Smith, and David Iossi.  They will be challenged in November by Democratic candidate Elodie Welta.

There are no contested elections for area state senate and representative seats.  Republican incumbent Jason Plummer is the only candidate running for 55th District Senator and Republican incumbent Terri Bryant is the only candidate in the 58th District Senate Seat.   Republican State Representative Blaine Wilhour of Beecher City is unopposed in the 110th house district, Charlie Meier of Okawville in the 109th house district, and David Friess of Red Bud in the 115th District.

There will be a contested primary for the Appellate Court Seat vacated by David Overstreet when he became Supreme Court Justice.  Mike McHaney of Iuka and Barry Vaughn of McLeansboro will face off in the Republican Primary.  Brian Roberts of DeSoto will challenge the winner in the November General Election.

Republican-appointed Clinton-Jefferson-Marion-Washington County Regional Superintendent of Schools Matt Renaud is the only candidate to file for that position.
