Franklin Park & Selmaville Heading To Jr High Bowling State

The Jr High bowling regionals were held in the SIJHSAA over the weekend.

Franklin Park and Selmaville girls advance to state after rolling well.  The Lady Bobcats won the event rolling 1539, 17 pins ahead of Anna with Selmaville 3rd, Herrin, Carterville, Spring Garden and Central City also advanced as a team.

Herrin’s Sidnee Nelson was the individual champion.  Selmaville’s Ava Birch was 5th, Shelby Johnson 10, Taylor Blackburn 12, Alexis Chitwood 32nd, Rebecca Smith 41st.

For Franklin Park, Brooklyn Bookhout, Willow Amburgey and Brooklyn Hamilton finished 6-7-8, Tatianna Maines-Sosa was 33rd and Makynzi Hurd 42nd.

Selmaville is advancing to the boys state tournament after finishing in the 6th and final qualifying spot.  Carterville won the event and advances along with Spring Garden, Anna, Bluford and Woodalwn.  Franklin Park finished 11th as a team and were 64 pins away from making the cut.  Also not advancing was Rome who was 7th, Central City 13 and Kell 14.

Carterville’s Parker Schoonover won the event.  Killian Merrill led Franklin Park shooting a 421 total and finishing 20th, Evan Gelsinger was 23, Gregory Gabbard 36, Kolby Hempen 52, Gavin Buchanan 63rd.

Selmaville was led by Kyler Sapp shooting a 418 for 21st, Alijah Carroll 28th, Carter Shanafelt 31, Kai Graham 48 and Austin Woolridge 58.
