Fire heavily damaged a mobile home at 1007 Adams Street in Junction City late Saturday afternoon.
Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says upon arrival at the Sherry Brown home, they found heavy fire at one end of the structure spreading rapidly through the home. The family had left the home earlier due to a power outage in the area. The family lost all of their possessions as well as several pets.
The State Fire Marshal was requested to assist in determining the cause of the fire which is not suspicious and believed to be electrical in nature.
Parson says upon arrival they attempted an interior attack, but due to the heavy fire conditions had to convert to an exterior attack.
Firemen had to add an additional hose to reach the fire as they could not drive the engines over a concrete culvert over a small creek. Due to the heavy fire conditions and long driveway, Sandoval received mutual aid from the Centralia Fire Protection District, Odin Fire, and Patoka Fire which brought a tanker to assist with water supply.
The fire call came in at around four Saturday afternoon. Firemen were on the scene for about three hours.
