Secretary of State Jesse White’s office is giving the public more time to get their driver’s license and ID cards renewed.
No need to rush into a driver’s services facility. Secretary of State Spokesperson Henry Haupt says you now have until the end of July to update your license.
“The previous deadline was scheduled for March 31, 2022. As a result, driver’s licenses and ID cards that are currently expired on their face are actually valid until July 31st.”
The extension does not apply to CDLs. Haupt reminds there are things you can take care of online, like renewing your license plate sticker getting a duplicate license or ID, and in some cases renewing your license. The website address is ILSOS.GOV.
Customers who must visit a facility include first-time driver’s license or ID card applicants, first-time REAL ID applicants, and drivers ages 75 and older who are required by state law to visit a facility when renewing their license.
