A 21-year-old Washington, Illinois man has pleaded guilty to two of seven charges pending against him in connection with a domestic disturbance that later became an altercation with Centralia Police.

Brandon Lykins received a two year prison term in Marion County Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to criminal damage to government property.

He was also assessed costs after pleading guilty to domestic battery. Two counts of aggravated battery to separate Centralia Police officers as well as aggravated assault with the use of a deadly weapon, obstructing identification and resisting a peace officer were dropped.

At the time of the December 2021 incident, Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says the series of events began when they received a 911 call from a woman who said she was being held at knifepoint by a man in her home in the 100 block of North Beech. The woman said she had also been held hostage inside her home for a half-hour and had been cut on her face with a knife.

Dodson says Lykins was gone upon their arrival, but was later found on foot.

Once at the police station, he allegedly kicked two Centralia Police officers as well as damaging a handle on the door of the holding cell.

Once he is out of prison, Lykins will have to complete one year parole. He will also receive credit for good time.
