Police Beat for Friday, March 4th, 2022

A 57-year-old Salem man was arrested on multiple charges after allegedly refusing to stop for Salem Police following an attempted traffic stop Thursday evening. Police initially tried to stop Brad Denton of Old Texas Lane after receiving a report of a man drinking in a vehicle on Baldridge Lane. After spotting him on West Main, Denton allegedly refused to stop until traveling on the Selmaville Road and then Old Texas Lane to his home. Denton was ticketed for alleged driving under the influence, no valid driver’s license, illegal transportation of liquor, fleeing and attempting to elude officers, and on a Marion County traffic warrant. He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he posted $300 bond on the traffic charges and $500 cash on the traffic warrant.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 39-year-old Ryan Collier of Tonti Road in Salem for alleged DUI and improper lane usage. Deputies made contact with Collier after he was allegedly found asleep in his car in the middle of Hotze Road south of Tonti Road northwest of Salem.

Three others were brought to the Marion County Jail on outstanding warrants. 34-year-old Michael Deadmond, who told Centralia Police he was homeless, was arrested on a Marion County felony warrant failure to appear warrant on a pending possession of meth charge. Bond was set at $6,000.

54-year-old David L. Jarnigan of North Broadway in Salem was arrested on an outstanding Marion County traffic warrant. He posted $500 bond and was released. 35-year-old Beau Morton of Morton Lane in Kell was arrested on an outstanding Washington County traffic warrant. He was released after posting $500 bond.

Salem Police gave 75-year-old Dorothy Missey of Vermundy Road in Kinmundy a notice to appear in court for alleged retail theft at the Salem Walmart Store.

Salem Police are investigating the theft of a Nintendo switch from a home in the 400 block of North Walnut Street.
