More than 25 persons have been arrested in Centralia during a Violent Crime Suppression Detail on Tuesday.

Police Chief Greg Dodson says the objective of the detail was to target gang crime activity, violent offenders, and narcotics trafficking.  Arrests were made on outstanding warrants and a variety of new charges.

Dodson says the detail was made possible by the Centralia Police Department’s partnership with the US Attorney’s Office, US Marshall Service, Illinois State Police FBI Task Force, and other local departments.

Dodson says at six Tuesday morning, over 40 officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Salem Police, Wamac Police, Central City Police, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and Centralia Police participated in a joint operation, designated Operation Flip-Flop by the U.S. Marshall’s office.   Other agencies who participated in the details were ATF, Illinois State Police, Investigators from the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force, FBI agents and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and the FBI TOC West Task Force.

Dodson says police were still determining charges against those taken into custody.   Those being held in the Marion County Jail are:
