The boys will play sectionals this week with semifinals on Tuesday and Wednesday and championship night on Friday.
In 2a over the weekend, Breese Central won the Wesclin Regional knocking off arch rival Mater Dei 46-30. Central advances to tomorrow night’s Carterville Sectional when they play Massac County with Murphysboro and Nashville playing Wednesday. Also in 2a at Flora, Pana and Mt Carmel play tomorrow with TTown and Marquette on Wednesday.
In 1a regional championships on Saturday, Waterloo Gibault got 16 from Ian Bollinger as they knock off the Madison Trojans 31-27 at Waterloo. Steeleville won the Woodlawn title beating Edwards County 56-38. The St Anthony Sectional will open tomorrow with Tuscola and St Anthony with South Central and Macon Meridian on Wednesday. At Okawville it’s Steeleville and Goreville on Tuesday and NCOE and Christopher Wednesday.
In 3a, Olney’s season ends at 27-1 as they fell to Marion in the Olney regional finals 41-38. Marion advances to the Highland Sectional for a Wednesday matchup with East St Louis and Centralia will open sectionals tomorrow night against Chatham Glenwood.
In 4a, Collinsville is the sectional site where tomorrow it’s Collilnsville and Quincy with the other semifinal will feature Normal and Moline playing their game in Pekin.
