It’s official. the state’s indoor mask mandate will be lifted Monday.
Thanks to the decrease in new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, you will no longer have to wear a mask in gyms, restaurants, bars, and stores.
Illinois Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike said in a Facebook post that seniors, people with comprised immune systems, and others may still want to keep that extra layer of protection.
“I want everyone to be respectful and understanding of people’s choices. No mask shaming, not for the mask wearers or the mask non-wearers. And yes, there are still some places where masks are required, so no mask-burning parties.”
You still have to wear a mask in places like the doctor’s office, on public transportation, and in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.
