The prep girls sectionals opened up last night. At Bunker Hill in 1a, Carlyle got 15 points from Sophia Hoffman but it wasn’t enough as they fell to Jacksonville Routt 55-37. In the other semifinal, Okawville got 24 from Alayna Kraus on their way to an easy 61-35 victory.
At Sesser Valier, Goreville beat Woodlawn 60-38 and Christopher over Gallatin County 50-34. At Tuscola, St Anthony advanced with their 53-45 win over Hume Shiloh. They will play Neoga after their 41-34 win over Tuscola.
In 2a, Teutopolis dropped their sectional opener losing to Paris 39-33. Paris was led by Kaitlyn Coombers with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Emily Konkel led the Shoes with 9. In the other semifinal it was Pana getting 9 from Jillian Hamilton in their 54-36 victory over Pana. At Nashville, Carterville eliminated the host Hornettes 35-25 and Mater Dei 43-30 winners over Benton.
In 3a, Mount Vernon’s season came to an end at the Bethalto Sectional, as they fell to the hosts 57-45 and Mattoon routed Triad 53-29. At Lincoln, it will be an all Apollo Conference battle in the finals after Lincoln beat MacArthur 72-57 behind 29 from Kloe Froebe and 20 from Becca Heitzig. They get Mahomet Seymour who eliminated Rochester 34-33.
In 4a sectionals, Edwardsville beat O’Fallon 60-50 as part of the Joliet Central sectional in a game played at Collinsville High. The Lady Tigers advance to Joliet to play Normal Community after they beat Joliet West 66-35.
