The Bradley University Softball team travelled to Nashville, TN this past weekend to compete in the Roar City Invitational. In their first game of the Invite, Bradley led defending MAC Champion Miami (OH) for most of the contest, but found itself trailing 7-2 after four-and-a-half innings, before the Braves rallied for an 8-7 victory. Former Centralia Orphan Annie Raegan Branon came out of the bullpen to earn her first win of the season by scattering four hits and two unearned runs in her three innings of work.
In her second game of the weekend, Branon took the tough luck loss as the Bradley Braves had their three-game win streak snapped after falling to the Miami (OH) Redhawks 2-0 on Sunday morning. Branon and Miami (OH) ace Brianna Pratt hooked-up in a pitcher’s duel with Redhawks scoring single runs in the 4th and the 5th innings. Branon surrendered just four hits and two earned runs while striking out 4 Redhawks in the complete game effort. Branon is currently 1-1 on the season as the Braves head to Auburn (GA) this upcoming weekend for the Plainsman Invite with Auburn, Syracuse and Delaware State.
