The Central City Village Board continues to fill openings following recent resignations of the village president, collector/clerk, and changes that have left several village board positions open.
The board formally accepted the resignation of City Clerk/Collector Karlie Patten who was in the audience to complain about the current operation of the village and threatened legal action if a board member who she has had an ongoing dispute with touches personnel files, especially her own. Later in the meeting, Pat Kuder was sworn in as temporary village clerk.
A motion was approved to have the treasurer complete all financial duties and increase the number of hours worked in the position to 22 per week.
The board also swore in Neely Reed as a new member. Neely has lived in Central City for over 20 years and agreed to serve on the board to help the city. One other board seat remains open after Gary Hall moved to the Village President position and Shane Swartzlander to Public Works Director last month.
The board will talk to a potential new attorney at their next meeting and is still searching for a new auditor.
The board appointed treasurer Lisa Hood and board member Thomas Cagle as officers of the board to handle freedom of information requests.
The board talked to Republic Services and Triple-A Trash about taking over the village’s trash collection from village employees. The companies were instructed to submit formal bids by Friday. However, Hall told the representatives a decision may not be made right away.
