Sandoval Fire Department names Firefighters and EMTs of the Year

The Sandoval Fire Department has presented several yearly awards and special recognitions for 2021.

Matt Horn and Trey Gambill were presented with the Firefighter of the Year award for their work at several structure fires last year.

Gail Gambill and Matt Horn were presented with the Tom Nicolay EMT of the Year award for their work during a cardiac arrest event in which the patient made a full recovery.

Several others were recognized as well.  Scott Towler, Matt Horn, and Codie Melton were recognized for successfully completing the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Basic Operations Firefighter certification training.  Jordan Parson was recognized for enhancements and improvements made to the  Department’s training programs.  Sandoval police officer Jake Delacour was presented with a Lifesaving Award for his assistance at a medical emergency.  Julie Crippen was recognized for continued support of the department and leading the Department’s Toys for Tots Program.

The top five on scene responders were Gail Gambill 139, Trey Gambill 106, Chad Parson 104, Scott Towler 99, and Matt Horn 93.

In 2021, the Sandoval Fire Department was called to a total of 511 requests for assistance.  Of the 511, there were 325 emergency ambulance calls, 42 mutual aid ambulance calls, 35 non-emergency ambulance calls, 27 motor vehicle accidents, 24 mutual aid fire calls, 11 false alarms, 10 vegetation fires, and 9 structure fires.
