Salem Firemen responded to two fire calls on Sunday.
Firemen were called to southbound I-57 at the 120-mile marker four miles north of the Salem exit to a natural cover fire at 10:24 Sunday morning. The fire covered a small area and was quickly put out without damage.
Firemen were called to the top of a power pole on fire in the 1200 block of South Broadway at 5:11 Sunday afternoon. The fire apparently started from a wire that came loose from an insulator. Flames were visible from the fire. Salem firemen stood by until Ameren crews arrived to make repairs.
