State Representative Blaine Wilhour is suing Illinois House Speaker Emanuel ‘Chris’ Welch over his removal from the Illinois House along with eight other Republican lawmakers for not wearing a mask as required by house rules.
The lawsuit was filed in Bond County Court by Thomas Devore of Greenville, the attorney who has successfully gotten the mask mandates overturned for school students and staff in the circuit and appellate courts. The Governor has now appealed to the Illinois Supreme Court.
Devore, who lives in Wilhour’s district, is also naming himself in the suit over his State Rep being removed.
A spokeswoman for House Speaker Emanuel ‘Chris’ Welch declined to comment on the lawsuit.
Wilhour before being tossed out on Thursday claimed the house action was a total lack of common sense and critical thought. He added on the masking issue the people of Illinois are done with it.
The masking requirement for most public places in Illinois comes to an end on February 28th.
