Red Cross hoping for good turnout at Blood Drives this week to help critical shortage

By Bruce Kropp Feb 20, 2022 | 2:00 PM

The Red Cross has fallen even more behind on blood supplies as a result of the recent winter weather that has now canceled over 500 blood drives since the beginning of the year.   That’s made the shortage of blood even more critical.

There are three blood drives this week where the Red Cross hopes they can begin to catch up on the estimated 17,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations due to the weather.

There is a blood drive on Monday at The Rock Church in Centralia from noon to five.  A drive is set for Tuesday from one to five at the Odin Public School.   Franklin Park Middle School in Salem will have a drive from two to six on Wednesday afternoon.

You can make an appointment online at RedCross.org or just show up at one of the drives.
