Illinois State Police say I-39 south of El Paso remains closed Friday following a multi-vehicle crash involving 19 commercial motor vehicles and nine passenger vehicles. Numerous other vehicles slid off the road, but were not damaged. Several commercial vehicles spilled their loads onto the roadways. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
ISP Troopers with the help of local law enforcement partners safely escorted all motorists from the area to warming centers for the night.
A total of 12 tow trucks worked on roadway cleanup through the night.
All lanes of Interstate 37 from milepost five to 22 north of Bloomington remain closed and are likely to stay that way through much of the day today.
