Salem Police are investigating a report that three armed men forced their way into a home and battered a male victim.
Police Chief Sean Reynolds says the incident was reported at 10:30 Thursday morning at a home in the 300 block of North Pearl in Salem.
The caller informed Salem dispatch that a male victim was battered by ‘three black males’ and the victim needed to go to the hospital.
Salem Police and United Medical responded to the scene and found the male with head and facial injuries. The victim confirmed that three black male suspects all armed with handguns forced their way into the home and had battered him. The victim was transported to Salem Township Hospital where he received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Reynolds say officers later located a vehicle suspected of being used in the alleged battery and home invasion. The vehicle was located at the Lynnwood Apartments off Hardacre Road. Police questioned an individual who was known to operate the vehicle, but no arrests were made at the time.
Reynolds says the investigation is continuing. No vehicle or suspect information is being released to the public until further information can be verified.
The Salem Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Illinois Secretary of State Police and Illinois State Police.
