STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Seth Lundy hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:37 remaining and finished with 17 points as Penn State beat No. 19 Michigan State 62-58. John Harrar had 16 points and 16 rebounds, and Jalen Pickett added 10 points for the Nittany Lions, who beat a ranked team for the first time under first-year coach Micah Shrewsberry. Julius Marble II scored 14 points and Max Christie had 10 for the Spartans, who led by as many as 14 points with just over 13 minutes remaining.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — E.J. Liddell had 16 points and 10 rebounds, leading No. 18 Ohio State to a 70-45 win over Minnesota. The Buckeyes trailed 25-23 at halftime. Ohio State shot 40.7% in the first half and committed eight turnovers. Ohio State finished shooting 49.1% from the field, including 57.1% in the second half. Luke Loewe led Minnesota with 12 points and Jamison Battle added 11. Minnesota had closed within eight points with 14:25 remaining, but shot 3 of 15 the rest of the way and lost for the sixth time in seven games.
UNDATED (AP) — Wyoming has gone from being picked to finish at the bottom of the Mountain West Conference to playing this week with a rare national ranking. The Cowboys are ranked No. 22 this week in the AP Top 25. They’ll play with their first national ranking since 2015 when they visit New Mexico on Tuesday. They also host Air Force on Saturday. Second-year coach Jeff Linder says, “it’s good to have validation” with the improvement to earn a national ranking. The week also includes Gonzaga’s return to No. 1 and a top-10 Big East matchup between No. 8 Providence and No. 10 Villanova.

Other players looking to build on big seasons are Arkansas’ Robert Moore, Stanford’s Brock Jones, Texas Tech’s Jace Jung, Mississippi State’s Landon Sims and East Carolina’s Carson Whisenhunt. Freshman pitchers to watch are Florida’s Pierce Coppola, UCLA’s Thatcher Hurd and Vanderbilt’s Carter Holton.

The Bulldogs earned 56 of 60 first-place votes to swap places with Auburn, which had spent the past three weeks at No. 1. The Tigers fell to No. 2 after losing at Arkansas. This is the Zags’ third stint at No. 1 this season. Providence climbed to No. 8 for its highest ranking since January 2016. Wyoming, Arkansas and Alabama were the week’s new additions. The No. 22 Cowboys are in the poll for the first time since 2015.
UNDATED (AP) — Iowa State has climbed to No. 6 in The Associated Press women’s basketball poll. That is the best ranking for the program in 20 years and it comes with big games against No. 14 Texas and No. 15 Oklahoma this week. South Carolina remained a unanimous No 1 in the poll, followed by Stanford, Louisville, N.C. State and Indiana. No. 7 Baylor and No. 8 Arizona follow Iowa State while Michigan fell from fourth to ninth after two losses. UConn dropped two spots to No. 10.
