State Police say a 52-year-old Coulterville woman was airlifted from the scene of a three vehicle crash in Washington County with life threatening injuries.
According to preliminary investigative details, Karen Blank was traveling east on the Marissa Road approaching the intersection with State Route 153 when she failed to yield at the stop intersection and traveled into oncoming traffic. Blank first struck the front of a northbound semi driven by 27-year-old Bradley
Schnitker of Hoyleton. Her SUV then spun out of control and struck the front of a southbound SUV driven by 82-year-old Thomas Welch of Sparta.
Blank was transported by medical helicopter to a regional hospital. Both Schnitker and Welch escaped injury.
Blank was ticketed for failure to yield at a stop intersection and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash occurred at 9:35 Tuesday evening.
