Long time Mount Vernon Lady Rams basketball and softball Coach Sarah Rennie has been honored for her career by being inducted into the Mount Vernon Sports Hall of Fame. Rennie coached for 33 seasons as the Lady Rams head coach and 17 years as the softball coach. She won 20 regionals, 12 South 7 titles, 3 sectional titles as well as coaching 3 Sweet 16 teams in 1979, 86 and 2000. She won 603 varsity basketball games and is a Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee as well.
