The Salem Township Hospital Foundation has announced the availability of five scholarships.

There are four $2,500 STH Foundation Ratermann Trust Allied Health Scholarships available.  They are made possible through the Wilhelmine and Dorothy Ratermann Trust.  The two grew up on a Clinton County dairy farm and were the last of their family.  The sisters never married and lived long frugal lives.  They left their money in trusts designed for various charitable endeavors, primarily scholarships for higher education.  The two lived without the niceties of life, but the legacy they left will benefit others for generations to come.

There is also one $1,000 STH Foundation Alamelu Lakshmanan Health Career Scholarship Available.   This Scholarship has been donated through the generosity of Dr. Shanmugam and Alamelu Lakshmanan.  Dr. Lakshmanan practiced medicine as a General Surgeon at Salem Township Hospital for 40 years, retiring in 2019.  He remains very loyal and dedicated to the hospital and community.  Mrs. Alamelu Lakshmanan was a charter member of the Salem Township Hospital Foundation, which was established in January 2001.  It is with great pleasure they have decided to set up a Health Career Scholarship, through the Salem Township Hospital Foundation, as a way to continue to provide to the community.

The criteria established for the awards and applications are available at the Salem Township Hospital Website –   www.sthcares.org.   All applications are due by April 25th, 2022.
