The Centralia City Council will be asked to approve a four year contract agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police Telecommunicators Union at Monday night’s meeting. The agreement, like the other union contracts approved with other union employees, includes a four percent increase each of the four years.
The council will be asked to approve the low bid from Shore Builders in Centralia for improvements to Blackberry Run. The bid was well under the engineer’s estimate of $104,700.
The council will also be asked to retroactively approve a $15,823 bid from Tate’s Plumbing for replacement of the boiler at the old Evers Field. Public Works Director Jeff Schwartz said the old boiler serving the field house was discovered not to be working on January 27th and found to be beyond repair. Due to the forecast that night of temperatures in the low single digits, various venders were contacted with Tate’s Plumbing being able to remove the existing unit and installing a new boiler yet that day.
The council will also be asked to purchase a zero turn lawn mower for the public property division from the lowest bidder Molenhour Power Equipment for $12,432.
A resolution for a forgivable loan agreement from TIF #3 to Salon Thairapy for facade improvements at 227 West Noleman will be considered. The council will be asked to pass an ordinance declaring 20 foot no parking zones at the entrance and exit to traffic lanes on four narrow streets divided by green space. They are Washington Boulevard, Pullen Boulevard, and Clinmar Place between Broadway and West Second and Melrose between 3rd Street and Frazier Street.
At the start of the meeting, Fire Captain Wesley Castang will be honored for his retirement for over 25 years of service. Firefighter Blaine Hyde will be honored for 15 years of service and public works chief operator James Jennings for 20 years of service.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
