Illinois State Police have released further details on a Greenville homicide investigation, including the death of a second person in a police chase.

After police responded to multiple gunshots Thursday night in the 600 block of East South Street, a woman identified as 37-year-old Laquita Sullivan of Greenville was found dead in a nearby home.

State Police say about an hour and a half later, a vehicle matching the description of a red Dodge Challenger believed to be involved in a separate shooting fled an attempted traffic stop by Wood River Police.  Multiple agencies ensued.  The vehicle eventually left the roadway and overturned on Illinois Route 203 near the entrance to Eagle Park.  A 25-year-old male from Greenville and a 2e-year-old male from Anna were transported to an area hospital.  The Greenville man, who was driving, later died from his injuries.

Meanwhile, a 33-year-old male that was in the area when the fatal shooting occurred went to the residence of an acquaintance in the 500 block of East Main Street in Greenville.  A standoff with police followed until the man was taken into custody without incident.   The man was later released after questioning.

Anyone who has information about the shooting or events surrounding the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at 314-725-8477.

State Police say no further information is being released at the present time.
