An 80-year-old Mt. Vernon man was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning for treatment after the school bus he was driving ran into the rear of a car on Spring Garden Road southeast of Mt. Vernon.
Jefferson County Sheriff Bullard says Larry Eubanks ran into the car driven by 56-year-old Thomas Lampp of Opdyke when he slowed to make a turn. The bus continued into the roadside ditch while the car went through a fence before stopping. The bus was owned by Durham Bus Service.
Lampp was not hurt. The only student on the bus, a 15-year-old, also escaped injury.
The crash occurred at 6:36 Wednesday morning.
