The Franklin Park Bobcats will play for the Class L Region 7 title tonight at Salem when they take on the Centralia Tigers. Tip off is at 6pm. The winner advances to Saturday’s state quarterfinals against Casey Mt Vernon at 12.
Playing for the Region 1 title at Herrin tonight will be Carterville and Carbondale.
Last night in Region 8, Olney opened the post season remaining undefeated beating Mt Carmel 66-40. They will play for that title on Wednesday against tonight’s winner of Flora and Carmi.
Marion advanced to state winning the Region 2 title over Harrisburg 48-23, Belleville West beat Waterloo to win Region 4 by a final of 46-29. Fulton knocked off Carriel in Region 6 54-48
The Class M tournament opened last night at Okawville High School. Goreville beat Grant 65-54, NCOE over Aviston 31-27, Fairfield 40-35 winners over Sesser-Valier and it was Nashville beating Spat Lincoln 56-16. The semifinals are tonight with Goreville and NCOE at 6 followed at 7:15 by Fairfield and Nashville.
The Class S tournament continued with quarterfinal action. Hoffman Trinity remained undefeated as they beat Steeleville St Mark’s 46-36, Meridian over Valmeyer 57-11, Jasper 46-40 winners over Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Waltonville overcame a first quarter deficit to beat Hardin County 60-42. The Class S state semifinals will be Thursday night with Hoffman Trinity and Meridian at 6pm followed by Jasper and Waltonville at 7:15.
