The Illinois Department of Transportation reports the Interstate highways and major state and US routes across Southern Illinois are clear of ice and snow Saturday morning.   If you are traveling north, scattered slippery spots are reported on I-57 in the Mattoon area north to the Kankakee area.   The Interstate is then clear into Chicago.  In general roads north of Fayette and Effingham Counties still have scattered slick spots.

The Marion County Highway Department plowed open all roads on Friday.   The sheriff’s department reports a vehicle became stuck on Walnut Hill Road near Medlin Road overnight and you may want to avoid that area.   The Marion County Highway Department reports Tonti Road from Charleston Road to the Sale Barn at Route 37 is one lane in places.   The Green Street Road is still partially snow and ice-covered and slick in places from Scout Road into Central City.

Salem Township Road Commissioner Joe Telford reports all Salem Township Roads have been plowed and are open.

In Salem and Centralia, major roads are largely clear of ice and snow while secondary streets are all snow-packed but passable.

The City of Salem and Village of Odin have lifted their snow route ordinances, while Centralia’s snow emergency remains in effect until six Saturday night.  As a result, there is still no parking allowed on designated snow routes in Centralia.
