Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a 42-year-old Sandoval man wanted in connection with a January 24th high-speed chase.

Brian Hartnell of Florida Street was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after apparently going back to the location a pickup involved in the chase got stuck after leaving the Barham Road in rural Odin.  The Sheriff’s Department had been called because Hartnell and another occupant went down the lane without landowner permission.

Hartnell would not tell deputies who he was leading to an obstructing charge.  After a cold-weather mask was taken off, they were then able to identify him.

Centralia Police say Hartnell successfully got away from police following a high-speed chase that began with an attempted traffic stop at Rhodes and Elm.  After winding through rural Centralia and Odin, the pickup left the road and began traveling through a field.  Police did not follow but later confirmed Hartnell was the alleged driver.

The vehicle involved in the chase was owned by a family member.

Centralia Police arrested Hartnell for aggravated fleeing and eluding police, driving suspended, and 24 traffic citations as a result of the chase that reached speeds of 100 miles per hour.  He was also arrested on an outstanding failure to appear in court warrant in a pending possession of methamphetamine case.  Bond on the warrant is set at $50,000.
