The Salem Wildcats might have failed to qualify as a team to the State Bowling Tournament over the weekend, however a pair of Wildcats finished their season on a high note.
Salem junior Colton Shoemaker finished Saturday with a 204.8 average including a high game of 211 as he finished 44th as an individual. Teammate and fellow junior Charlie Hunter averaged 201.5 for the day with a high game of 216 to finish 57th.
Not to be outdone, Mater Dei senior Zach Ludwig averaged 215.5 with games of 253, 243, 226 and 224 on his way to 25th place.
As a team, Minooka was the state champion with Machesney Park 2nd followed in the top 5 by Joliet West, Orland Park Sandburg and Lockport Township. Belleville East was 9th and Waterloo 10th.
Ethan Caruso, a sophomore from Minooka, was the individual champ with a 230.5 average which included a 299 game to finish 31 pins ahead of Machesney Park junior Jermarrion Simmons.
Some other individuals of mention included Jayden Vorhes of Herrin finishing 23rd with teammate Lake Ward 43rd. Trevor Pense of Mascoutah was 53rd with Carterville freshman Evan Flath 70th.
