Bulls lose to San Antonio Spurs

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Dejounte Murray had 29 points and 12 assists and the Spurs beat the Chicago Bulls 131-122 in DeMar DeRozan’s return to San Antonio. DeRozan scored 32 points in his first game in San Antonio for the Bulls. He spent the previous three seasons with the Spurs. Zach LaVine added 30 points and Nikola Vucevic had 18 for the Bulls. Keldon Johnson added 23 points for San Antonio, which snapped a three-game home losing streak. Jakob Poeltl added 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Murray had nine rebounds. DeRozan was showered with appreciation by the fans as well as his former teammates and coaches.

Checking out Saturday’s other NBA action:

— Rick Carlisle was back in Dallas for the first time since resigning as head coach of the Mavericks. Carlisle watched from the Indiana bench as Luka Doncic and Reggie Bullock led the Mavericks’ 132-105 rout of the Pacers. Carlisle coached the Mavericks during the past 13 seasons, leading the team to its lone title in 2011. Doncic had 30 points and 12 assists as the Mavs won for the 13th time in 16 games. Bullock shot 6-for-7 from 3-point range and finished with a season-high 23 points.

— Klay Thompson hit the biggest shot yet of his 2 1/2-year injury comeback, a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left to send the Warriors to a 110-106 victory over the Nets. Thompson finished with 16 points and Steph Curry had 19 to help Golden State overcome 32 points by Kyrie Irving.

— Nick VanVleet hit two 3-pointers in the third overtime and the Raptors outlasted the Heat, 124-120. Gary Trent Jr. led Toronto with 33 points, Scottie Barnes added 22, Pascal Siakam had 21, and OG Anunoby 20.

— Ja (jah) Morant scored at least 30 points for the sixth straight game, finishing with 34 in the Grizzlies’ 115-956 thumping of the Wizards. Desmond Bane had 19 points and De’Anthony Melton added 13 to help Memphis earn its third consecutive win.

— Joel Embiid (joh-EHL’ ehm-BEED’) poured in 36 points and Tyrese Maxey keyed a game-changing run in the fourth quarter of the 76ers’ fourth straight win, 103-101 against the Kings. Tobias Harris scored 16 points and Maxey had 13 for the Sixers, who held on when Harrison Barnes missed a 3-pointer as time expired.

— The Celtics came away with a 107-97 win over the Pelicans as Jayson Tatum furnished 38 points and Jaylen Brown added 31. Robert Williams grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked four shots for Boston, which led by double digits for most of the game en route to a third victory in four games.
