Centralia Police say a 48-year-old Centralia man refused medical treatment following a single-vehicle crash on West McCord at Airport Road on the west side of Centralia just before noon on Thursday.
Police reports indicate Edward Short of South Walnut was traveling westbound on McCord. A vehicle had stopped in front of him. When he attempted to stop, Short said his brakes failed. He swerved to avoid hitting the car in front of him and crashed into the pole holding the traffic signal bringing it to the ground. Police say it was destroyed.
Short was ticketed for driving without insurance.
