The Salem Invitational Tournament semifinals were played last night.
In the opening game, tournament top seed East St Louis looked the part as they knocked off the Salem Wildcats 71-46. Macaleab Rich led the Flyers with 30 points and 10 rebounds. University of Mizzou recruit Christian Jones added 11. Salem got a phenomenal game from Rolan Adams. He hit 6 three pointers on his way to 28 points and finished with 6 rebounds. Caden Bee added 11. Salem will play in the 3rd place game this afternoon at 5:30 and East St Louis is in the 7pm title game.
The Flyers will get the Mt Vernon Rams who won a war with Madison 52-47. NJ Benson led the Rams with 16 points and 10 rebounds, Colin McClure added 15. Carlis Wilson led Madison with 14.
The Tournament will conclude today starting with the consolation semifinals at 11:30 with Champaign Central and Carbondale followed at 1 by Effingham and TF North. Then the trophy games start at 4pm with the 7th place game, followed by Consolation championship at 5:30, Salem and Madison for 3rd at 7pm and then the big matchup tonight at 8:30 between East St Louis and Mt Vernon.
