Kell Grade School switches to e-learning Friday as illness moves through school

Kell Grade School moved to an e-learning day on Friday when a third of the staff and 16-percent of the students were out Thursday due to illness.

Principal SarahBeth Ferrell says the problem appears to be more the result of the flu, with only two of the staff members testing positive for COVID-19.

Ferrell says the main issue was finding substitutes to cover for the staff.

Schools have been fighting that issue throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ferrell hopes with the weekend and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday on Monday, the illness problem will subside to allow classes to resume in person next Tuesday.
