UNDATED (AP) — Both the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys have given themselves a chance to move up the NFL playoff seedings. The Chiefs can grab the top seed in the AFC, and the Cowboys could finish as high as No. 2
Linebacker Nick Bolton’s 86-yard fumble return midway through the fourth quarter put the Chiefs ahead to stay in a 28-24 win at Denver. The Broncos led 21-20 and were driving for another touchdown when Melvin Ingram III darted into Denver’s backfield untouched and stripped the ball from Melvin Gordon.
Patrick Mahomes was 27 of 44 for 270 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the 12-5 Chiefs with 54 yards rushing.
Gordon ran for 110 yards for the 7-10 Broncos.
Kansas City will take the No. 1 seed if the Titans lose to the Texans on Sunday.
The Cowboys geared up for the playoffs by blasting the Eagles, 51-20.
Dak Prescott threw for five touchdowns, completing 21 of 27 passes for 295 yards. Dallas also ran for 175 yards, with Ezekiel Elliott providing 87 on 18 carries.
Cedrick Wilson and Dalton Schultz each had two scoring receptions. Wilson had five catches for 119 yards for the Cowboys, who’ve scored over 50 points in two of their last three games.
Dallas entered the game with the No. 4 seed and has a chance to climb to No. 2 depending on how the Rams, Cardinals, and Buccaneers fare. The Eagles hold the No. 7 spot.
