The Marion County Health Department has announced the death of four more residents from COVID-19 related causes. They include a male in his 70s who was a long-term care resident who was not fully vaccinated and had been in the hospital. Another male in his 70s was fully vaccinated and in the hospital. A male in his 60s was also fully vaccinated and in the hospital. The fourth death was a female who was not vaccinated and in the hospital. There have now been 181 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.
The Wayne County Health Department is reporting one death this week. It is the 67th of the pandemic. Wayne County is reporting 116 new COVID-19 cases and 302 currently in isolation.
Clinton County is reporting 125 new cases and no additional deaths this week. There are currently 1,425 in isolation.
Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 310 new cases since Saturday and no additional deaths.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 201,428 new confirmed and probable coronavirus cases and 444 more deaths statewide since December 31st.
The statewide positivity rate from December 31st to January 6th has jumped to 15.2-percent.
