Salem man charged with failure to register as a sex offender

A 42-year-old Salem man has been charged in Marion County Court with failure to register as a sex offender.

Franklin Seals of West Main Street is charged in the offense of not notifying Salem Police he was living in a house with a child under 18 that is not his own child.

Seals was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bond with a condition of having no contact with any individual under 18. The public defender was appointed to represent him.

Upon conviction, the charges carries a minimum seven day jail term and a mandatory minimum fine of $500.
