A 41-year-old Farina man has been sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison on five counts of criminal sexual assault.

Robert Branham was found guilty by a Fayette County Jury on the charges in November.   One of the charges claimed sexual assault by force and the other four were committing a sex act against a family member under 18.

Branham received six years on each of the sexual assault charges, with the time to be served consecutively resulting in the 30 year prison term.  Under state statute, Branham will be required to serve 85-percent of the sentence.

The sentencing came after the Judge rejected Branham’s request for a new trial.

Branham addressed the court in a statement of allocution.  Court records indicate Branham denied all responsibility for the incident.

He was first arrested on the charges in August 2020.
