Bond was set at $150,000 in Marion County Court Monday for a 23-year-old Salem man charged with a Thursday burglary to a building and possession of
ammunition without a FOID card.

Tristan Rankin of Robin Road was arrested on Thursday after an observant neighbor spotted a suspicious vehicle at a home where both occupants had earlier passed away. The residence was on Route 37 near Cross Road.

Sheriff’s Deputies say they were able to stop a car matching the description of the one at the residence a short distance away and allegedly found some items believed to have been taken from the home. Rankin also allegedly had ten rounds of ammunition from a handgun.

Judge Michael McHaney appointed the public defender to represent Rankin. He was already free on bond awaiting further action in Marion and Jefferson County theft and burglary cases.

Rankin’s next hearing on the new charges is January 20th.
