The Centralia Chamber of Commerce honored several businesses at the New Year’s Eve Annual Chamber Banquet.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marcus Holland says Advanced Surgical Technology on East McCord Street was honored for building a new facility in the community.
“They recognized Centralia as a place to invest. They have state of the art surgical center that has cosmetic and health services that rival most metropolitan areas. There is nothing in our region like this.”
Holland says the location of the surgery center continues a trend of more medical facilities being constructed on the east side of the city.
Con Agra which manufactures all of the Duncan Hines products sold around the country in Centralia was honored on a major plant upgrade. Holland learned of the work during a plant tour.
“Spent $10 million on new equipment and there were a lot more machines than I have seen before that have more output, more reliable equipment and they obviously believe in our community to reinvest back into it.”
Three legacy awards were also awarded to businesses that continue to expand and invest in Centralia.
The winners were SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital which has recently completed emergency room renovations and is the city’s top employer.
Rachel Wallace who owns Crooked Creek Crossing, Rosati’s Restaurant, Best Western and Subway shops throughout the region was honored for continued development on the west side. Wallace said there was only one opening left in the Crooked Creek Crossing Center and plans were being developed for use of the only vacant part of the land they own near the Jolliff Bridge and West McCord Street intersection. Greg Sutton and Melissa Roach were honored for their role in the continued development of Castle Ridge, Stonewater Restaurant, and the Gaetti Sports Academy.
The chamber also honored two businesses on milestone anniversaries.
Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery is celebrating its 100th Year anniversary and Jerry’s Grill and Bar their 50th anniversary.
