Police Beat for Saturday, January 1st, 2022

A 46-year-old Salem man was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly driving under the influence after his car left Green Street Road near Bell Club Road and struck a power pole.  Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say Michael Heinzmann of Red Strip Road was not injured in the crash.  The power pole was split in half.   Tri-County Electric was called out to make repairs.   The crash occurred at 1:49 Saturday morning.  Heinzmann posted $100 bond and was released.

Salem Police arrested 26-year-old Cody Keller of Copple Road in Centralia for alleged driving under the influence after he pulled into a driveway in the 1600 block of North Broadway and became stuck.   His vehicle had to be towed off.   Keller posted bond and was released.   The incident occurred at 1:41 Saturday morning.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two on outstanding Hamilton County traffic warrants after being called to a domestic complaint Friday night in the 3000 block of McCoy Road in rural Salem.   26-year-old Megan Sarchet of Iola Lane in Farina and 35-year-old Steven West of North First in Dahlgren are both being held in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bond apiece.

State Police arrested 30-year-old Daniel Chavez of DeKalb on an outstanding Winnebago County misdemeanor warrant.  He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he posted $500 bond and was released.
