The Salem Water Plant has released the 2021 Weather Statistics.
Salem recorded 47.65 inches of precipitation during the year, down from 50.43 inches in 2020. However, snowfall was up considerably. 19.3 inches of snow as recorded in 2021, eight inches of the total coming in one February snowfall. That compares to just 2.9 inches of snow the previous year.
Temperatures range from a high of 97 degrees to a low of three below zero. That compared to a temperature range of 94 to six above zero in 2000.
For the month of December, 3.58 inches of rain was recorded. 2.17 inches came on one day, December 18th. There was only 1.52 inches of precipitation in December of 2020. While there was just a trace of snow this year, 2.8 inches was recorded in December 2020.
Temperatures in December ranged from a high of 72 on December 4th to a low of 22 on December 7th and 8th. That compared to a high of 66 and a low of 9 in December 2020.
In Centralia precipitation for the year totaled 46.59 inches, exactly an inch less than 2020. 4.12 inches of this year’s total came in December.
