The Centralia City Council met in special session Wednesday night to approve a new contract agreement with one of its three police unions. City Manager Scott Randall says there were four significant changes in the agreement with the contract that covers the department’s command officers.

“Hospitalizations, we’ve changed the methods of contribution to what I think is the benefit of the city.  Dental insurance the same, we changed that to the benefit of the city.  Like the other two previously approved agreements, they are for 4 year terms, so this one will expire on December 21, 2025 and the wages, like the other agreements, are 4% per year.”

The city earlier approved contracts with the firefighters and public works employees.

Randall says negotiations are on-going with the unions that represent the patrol officers and communications officers. He reports one of the police unions voted down the same contract terms as were approved for the other unions.

All five of the current contracts expire at the end of the year.
