Marion County reporting three more COVID-19 related deaths, 177 new cases

The Marion County Health Department is reporting three more deaths from COVID-19 related causes bringing the total since the pandemic began to 164.

The health department reports the latest deaths were males in their 50s, 60s, and 80s.  All three were in the hospital and were not vaccinated.   None were long-term care residents.

The health department is reporting 177 new cases in Marion County since last Friday.  Of the positive cases, 23 were fully vaccinated.  One of the cases is a long-term care resident who was not vaccinated, 43 are school age, 12 are four years and younger.  On the other end of the scale, were a male and female in their 80s.

There are now 357 active cases in Marion County, including 18 who are in the hospital.   One of those is on a ventilator.  Those hospitalized include an infant under three months, one teen, two in their 40s, six in the 50s, four in their 60s, two in their 70s, and two in their 80s.

Marion County has surpassed 200,000 tests being given since the pandemic began.  There have been 7,838 total positive cases.

The health department reports 43 have recovered and have been removed from isolation since last Friday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting a continued surge of new cases and hospitalizations.   77,246 new confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19 and 318 deaths have been reported statewide since last Friday.  As of Wednesday night, 4,271 were reported to be in the hospital.  867 of those are in ICU and 485 are on ventilators.
