The Centralia City Council has approved new four year contract agreements with the Operating Engineers and International Association of Firefighters. Both contain four percent increases each year of the contract.
The council agreed to purchase two new pickup trucks for squad cars through the State Bid held by Morrow Brothers Ford at a cost of $79,870. The council also approved a grant through the Insurance Program Managers Group that will pay half the $19,965 cost of 16 new tasers for the police department.
A $14,880 contract with Global Technical Systems, Inc. will allow for the remote controls on all six of the emergency warning sirens to be updated so they can be activated via remote control. Only two are currently functioning.
The council approved an increase in the cemetery opening fees of between $100 to $150 depending on the day of the week. After no other bid was received, theĀ city council approved the use auditor Kujawa and Batteau for another year at a cost of $34,000.
The council approved the use of Raccoon Lake for this year’s National Boat Racing Association races on August 10th through the 14th.
