The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports a 31-year-old rural Odin man was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident after they learned his identity through a Snap Chat message.
Eric Gaul of Kingshighway is accused of hitting a power pole on Ross Road near the Green Street Road intersection. The impact broke off the pole that fell across Ross Road and brought live power lines down across the Green Street Road. The roads were closed for about four hours while Tri-County Electric made repairs.
Sheriff’s Deputies believe Gaul’s Jeep lost control and hit the pole after striking a deer.
The Snap Chat message was screen shot by another person who turned it over to a deputy.
The incident occurred at 3:10 Sunday morning.
