The Centers for Disease Control is reporting a 42-percent increase in COVID-19 in Marion County last week compared to the week before.
The 214 new cases represent an infection rate of 575 cases per 100,000 people, nearly six times the rate of infection that places the county in the highest category of infection. The weekly tracker also reported 29 new hospitalizations.
Clinton County reported 135 new cases, a drop of 20-percent from the prior week. The rate of infection was 359 per 100,000. There were four new hospitalizations.
In Jefferson County, there were 121 new cases and a positivity rate of 321 per 100,000. There were six new hospitalizations. The county had a decline of less than one-percent of new cases.
Washington County had 44 new cases for an infection rate of 317 per 100,000. There were no new hospitalizations. The number of new cases were up 29-percent.
Fayette County had 94 new COVID cases last week, an eight percent increase. The positivity rate is at 321 per 100,000. There were 20 new hospitalizations last week.
Clay County continues to have the highest positivity rate in the region with 127 new positive cases last week. The county’s positivity rate is at 963 per 100,000 people. There were 16 new hospitalizations.
In Wayne County, there was a 61-percent increases in cases last week with 82 reported. There were also three new hospitalizations. The county’s positivity rate is at 505 per 100,000.
The entire state of Illinois remains in the high category for transmission for COVID-19.
